We love our bodies but some attires can throw us in a tizzy when it comes to selecting and styling them...and the task becomes all the more difficult when you’re off to a beach.

How can you manage the waves, the sand and your two piece with comfort and ease?

At the India Beach Fashion Week in Goa, designers from around the country gathered to showcase their latest collection for beach and resort wear lines. Quint NEON caught up with a few designers and asked them what goes into making a bikini and how we can style it for a comfortable look.

What Goes into Making a Bikini?

Most people think as opposed to making a gown or a dress, a bikini will be fairly easy because it’s really just a two piece. Quint NEON asked the designers at IBFW Goa 2018 about what needs to be kept in mind while designing a bikini.

It’s a really tough job!

Anupama Dayal who showcased her ‘Equal Love’ collection at India Beach Fashion Week said that the first bra was made by engineers, so you can only imagine the amount of detail it needs.

Apart from the design, you have to select the right fabric with good stretchability. Asif Merchant says that most people don’t pay close attention to it and end up with uncomfortable beachwear.

Apple, Pear, Hourglass - the Right Bikini Style

Most designers say that a high waist and deep cut is the best bet and you can never go wrong with that classic style from the 70s.

But if you don’t wish to go for a two piece, you could also look at some bathing suits and accessorise them with belts and shirts.

Consider a look like this:

A pear-shaped body could consider taking the attention to the top with some embellishments on bright colours and teaming it up with a solid coloured bottom.

Scarves, Capes and Flowy Fabrics Can Be Your Best Bet

When it comes to a beach look, consider a cape or a sarong to complete the look. Whether you’re in the water or the kind who likes to just stroll on the beach, a chiffon or satin scarf will add a little structure to your look, says Ripci Bhatia.

You can use your scarf as a sarong or even tie it as a turban. If you’re wearing something in block colours, just throw on a printed scarf and you’re all set.

So if the winter fog is getting to you and you think you need a break, head to a beach and use these simple tips.

Don’t shy away from bikini or bathing suit!
