Top fashion designers of the country came together under one roof at the Vogue Wedding Show – an iconic exhibit for bridal trends, outfits and jewellery. This year, Sabyasachi Mukherji, Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Shyamal and Bhumika, JADE, Tarun Tahiliani and others were a part of the sixth edition of the show held in New Delhi between 3 to 5 August.
Brides-to-be flocked the show to zero in on their dream wedding outfit. With the country’s best fashion designers in the same house, the brides and their families got the golden opportunity to interact with the creative minds on their various outfits.
Weddings are sacrosanct in India. Outfits and jewellery are even more important. The Quint spoke with celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, designers Tarun Tahiliani and Anita Dongre to understand this year’s bridal fashion.
Colours play a huge part in setting the tone for the wedding. With red being the eternal favourite of the Indian brides, designers argue that there is a gradual move towards softer, pastel colours.
Indian brides also like to bump up their overall look with jewellery. While many young brides prefer keeping it as minimal as possible, designers like to recommend jewellery from case-to-case basis.
Best of luck to all the brides-to-be, here’s wishing them a colourful time.
