Well, it’s not even May and we can already feel the sweltering heat that often reminds us of our early days when we used to binge on langda mangoes while sitting next to the cooler, sprinkling cold water in the air.

So, we’re here to give you some inspiration for this summer that’ll take you back to the good old days.

Rasnaa!

Remember when running away from the summer sun was fun because Rasna was awaiting you at home? Actually, more that drinking it, making it and spilling it all over the kitchen sink, slab and floor was more fun.

And the scary moment when my mom would come screaming from her summer siesta, to take stock of the kitchen adventure? That was the best bit.

Love For Mangoes and Aam Panna

Summer is all about the drinks and ghar ka aam panna is my mother’s secret to ‘not catching the summer loo’. If you haven’t tried one yet, you’re missing out on a lot.

If you have and not had one this summer, you must start soon, summer is catching up fast and you need to outsmart the loo!

Sounds of the Summer Birds

Well, this may sound a tad bit archaic, BUT, summer birds were a thing! At least in small towns. I distinctly remember counting the number of birds every morning on my garden’s mango tree and imagining their winter tree homes.

I still wonder about their whereabouts.

Standing in Front of the Cooler

And, talking to the cooler – because it made the voice squeaky, which was the best part!

Holidaying at My Grandparents' House

If there is one thing that I look forward to the most, even now, is going to my nana-nani’s house over summer.
