If you’d listen to us, we’d be funny, we can’t mime all the time, dude.’’
Prashasti Singh, Stand-up Comedian
Prashasti Singh who cracked me up with her story about her boss who had a serious case of too much self-love, was once climbing high in the corporate ladder herself. Living an almost double life, where she was this serious, no-nonsense person at work while totally letting it all out on the weekends at improv club, Prashasti says that the day she decided to stop pleasing people, everything changed for her.
Earlier, I needed to be the centre of attention with my friends, but ever since I started doing stand-up, I get all the attention and validation I need when I perform on stage, so I am a better listener in real life.
Sejal Bhat who has spent much of her life moving from one city to another does one of the funniest impersonations of Delhi men staring at women.
Delhi Men’s Entitlement to ‘Ghoorna’
They are really extra about it in Delhi where it is a proper activity.
Sejal Bhat, Stand-up Comedian
A typical Bangalore dude is like spread. They are lounging a lot. Hammocks, bean bags. It is only a hub for people who have a job where they come back and watch Narcos or something and chill.
Sejal Bhat, Stand-up Comedian
Even the question of whether women are funny or not is really old says Sejal, who jokes that men are so busy appreciating themselves that after a while, they all sort of start sounding the same! Both Prashasti and Sejal were in Delhi to perform at Bira 91 April Fool’s Fest.
What to Expect After ‘Engineering’
I come from an engineering background where I really never had to make an effort to date. After six months of struggling in Mumbai, I was like, men actually have choices in Mumbai!
