In this era of Instagram filters and WhatsApp emojis, social media has become an indispensable part of our lives. In fact, it has redefined the way we connect and communicate with each other.
From politicians to journalists, people took to Twitter to express their greetings on the occasion of World Social Media Day.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, saying “"Greetings on #SocialMediaDay! The world of social media has played a key role in democratising our discourse and giving a platform to millions of people around the world to express their views and showcase their creativity”.
He further added:
The Congress decided to celebrate this day with the release of a musical video, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unfollow trolls.
The video begins with the message “This Social Media Day, women have something to say to @narendramodi,” and goes on to show women singing their own rendition of the famous Beatles song “Let it be”.
The party’s social media chief Divya Spandana also tweeted, saying “Congress social media has taken a pledge to spread love and kindness even to the ‘blessed’ to be followed by @narendramodi trolls.”
