Woody Allen, the man who would like to live his life backwards in order to lead a fulfilling one, (and let go of his self-sanctioned magical ability to enthuse about life’s miseries?) recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his upcoming movie Cafe Society, his relationship with his wife, his aversion to technology and a wide array of many such things.
Allen’s relationship with Mia Farrow suffered a setback in 1992 when he was accused of having an affair with Farrow’s 21 year-old adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. Allen went on to marry her five years later. In 2014, Allen faced further flak after being accused by his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, of sexual assault.
Anyhow, we don’t really have any bones to pick with the fair share of contradictions Mr Allen is, we all have our closeted skeletons, what unsettled us is what he said when asked whether his wife Soon-Yi Previn has changed him or not.
Not only does his response reek of a whole new brand of self-preoccupation, but also an air of a saviour without whom Previn’s life would still be orphaned!
When pointed out to him how he was talking about his contributions and not her’s, he starts off with a generic account of how Previn has been a source of pleasure for him among other things like an emotional support and a wonderful wife.
On further goading, have a look at what he said!
Maybe Mr Allen needs to pull himself together and listen to himself talking. From what we’ve seen, it shouldn’t be too difficult, given the voices in his (characters’ ) head(s) and his movies!
And it is not just us, look what the Twitterati has to say about Mr Allen playing a skewed Pygmalion to Previn.
The social media outrage over his comments is pretty evident. We would love to know what you think. Do leave us a message whether you agree or not!
