So what exactly makes the Indian parent stand out?

Is it the helicopter parenting in general or the tiny details attached to it? A Quora thread discussing Indian parents and their unique ways of talking kids into doing things their way is something you’d definitely relate to.

From being served vegetables on chapatti in the name of pizza to being told that all our sorrows would disappear after having passed the board exams with flying colours...the list is seemingly endless and quite apt!

Here’s taking a look at the most amusing answers!

The ‘Just-A-Bit-More’ Argument

Instance 1:

‘’Study hard till the10th Grade, it’s only fun and games after that.’’

‘’Study hard till the12th Grade, it’s only fun and games after that.”

They didn’t mention that after the 12th grade, Engineering will play games with me.

Instance: 2

*Asks a question they feel uncomfortable answering*

‘’I’ll tell you when you grow up.”

For them, grown up = has babies. Notice the plural.

It Started Off As...

Let me tell you one childhood secret which parents never told us. When we were very young.

When crying was the only mode of communication we knew...parents started fooling us.

When we used to cry for no reason and mothers were tired of feeding us, they fooled us with this thing.

It is called a pacifier... How stupid were we!

The Sabzi-Is-God Argument

The Rebellion...

The desi manner of parenting is such that we’d be able to testify to the khichdi of misdirected love, affection and policing even in our sleep.(Photo: Quora

The Final Card Played!

The master card.(Photo: Quora

‘Don't Lie or the Crow will Bite You.’

They fooled us by saying “speak the truth or the black ugly crow will bite you”.

‘We Went to the Hospital Where all Babies are Kept and Bought You’

This is what I was told when I wanted to know how I was born. I think this is the most hilarious way to fool children. These accounts vary from door to door in India.

Now that we have given you a sneak peek into the thread, we’re sure that you have plenty more anecdotes to share. Don’t forget to comment and let us in on them!
