When all eyes were on governor Vajubhai Vala following the high-octane turns in the Karnataka assembly elections on 15 May, actor and producer Uday Chopra’s tweet on the hung verdict drew the ire of trolls. The Dhoom actor referred to Vala as the ‘BJP guy’. Twitterati hit back, calling him the ‘Rahul Gandhi of Bollywood’.

From labelling him as a ‘failed dynast’ to questioning his right to opine on politics, some of the netizens had a field day. But Chopra who is no stranger to online mockery, took the derision on the chin.

“I just googled the governor of Karnataka guy and RSS hmmm I guess we all know what’s gonna happen.”
Uday Chopra tweeted
“Ha! So many trolls on my timeline suddenly. I agree I am no one of consequence but I am still an Indian and I care deeply about my country. How dare I have an opinion opposed to yours.”

The Karnataka governor’s proximity to Narendra Modi goes way back to 2001. He is known to have vacated his assembly seat in Gujarat to facilitate the erstwhile chief minister Narendra Modi’s contesting of his maiden election.

When most of B-Town tries to steer clear of any political debate, props to Uday Chopra for expressing his opinion.
