Imran Khan is set to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) success in the general elections. The celebrations for the expected result begun well before the results. PTI requires a total of 137 seats for simple majority. His prty was up against the PML-N headed by ex-PM, Nawaz Sharif’s brother – Shahbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, leader of the PPP.
The ex-cricketer has overcome numerous challenges such as facing poll-rigging allegations and allegedly having undue advantages from the military.
His former team mate, Waqar Younis, was one of the first people to congratulate Khan on his historic achievement.
The Internet was quick in pointing out the difference in Khan’s campaign speeches and his speech this evening.
Khan was also appreciated for fact that he was not reading his speech from a piece of paper.
Congratulatory messages poured in as Khan declared victory in the elections.
