In a surprising move, National Award-winning actress Zaira Wasim on Sunday, 30 June, announced her "disassociation" from the field of acting, saying she was not happy with the line of work as it interfered with her faith and religion.
In a detailed post on her Facebook page, the Kashmiri-born Dangal star Zaira Wasim said she realised "though I may fit here perfectly, I do not belong here."
The post soon went viral and received mixed reactions from netizens.
A lot of people online supported Wasim’s right to choose.
She was also criticised for her decision.
While others went on to say that, she has the freedom to follow and profess whatever she wishes to do. She should not be criticised for doing what she felt was right.
Others were worried if there was any external pressure on her to take this abrupt decision.
