‘Animal Farm’ For Kids? Shilpa Shetty Generates Twitter Sarcasm

Nothing escapes the prying eyes of Twitter. Not even what actress Shilpa Shetty said about George Orwell's iconic novella Animal Farm to an English newspaper.

The actress would have never thought her innocent comments on CISCE's (Council For the Indian School Certificate Examinations) decision to include the Harry Potter series in junior and middle school syllabus would generate so much traction. Rather, so much humour!

Shetty was quoted in the newspaper as saying, "Books like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as part of the syllabus is a great move because it cultivates imagination and creativity at a young age. They should include books like Little Women, as it encourages respect towards women at a young age. Even a book like Animal Farm can teach the little ones to love and care for animals."

The novella is actually a riveting political commentary on the Soviet Union, personifying animal characters as communists.
