Remember the bizarre but admittedly hilarious old Camlin advertisement, where a dying man was resurrected by a permanent marker? If you can’t remember, chances are somebody’s going to post it on your Facebook wall anyway.
When a Facebook page We Are Indian reposted the old commercial, the post went viral. It has 505,000 views and nearly 18,000 shares in three days. Perhaps some people are discovering it for the first time, while some may be revisiting the good ol’ clever commercial.
In the advertisement, a widow is surrounded by women mourning her husband’s death. As (regressive) rituals dictate, she’s being rid of all her marital symbols. Bangles shattered, mangalsutra removed, but that damn bindi just refuses to wipe off!
Turns out the bindi was made on her forehead with a Camlin permanent marker. At the end of the advertisement, the stubborn red dot resurrects her husband. We’re not sure when this commercial originally came out, or why it’s doing the rounds now. But it’s still just as hilarious as when we first saw it.
