Newly-appointed Congress General Secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi kicked off the party's mega roadshow in Lucknow on Monday with her brother Rahul.

The approximately 20-km roadshow started from the Amausi airport and culminated at the Nehru Bhawan office of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee.

Kickstarting her election campaign for the Congress, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra already has a loyal army of supporters dressed in pink.

The pink t-shirts bear the following chant:

Desh ke samman mein, Priyanka ji maidan mein, Maan bhi denge, samman bhi denge, waqt padega toh jaan bhi denge (To honour the country, with Priyanka Gandhi in the field, we’ll give our respect and if needed, we’ll lay down our lives as well).

Priyanka’s sena has been around for a while, however the “pink” is a new addition. According to NDTV, the Sena has over 500 Congress workers. They chose to wear the colour uniformly as they wanted Congress’ new general secretary to feel that she had a “disciplined” force behind her

Their message sets to communicate Priyanka Gandhi as a representative for women across the nation and how crimes against women must come to an end.

Social Media Supported the Sena

There was of course a heavy meme-shower too.

Now the real question is whether she and her “pink sena” will be able to bring home a win in Uttar Pradesh, considering how the state accounts for 40 lakh sabha seats.
