President Ram Nath Kovind –– on 6 September –– landed in Czech Republic as part of his three-nation European tour. Following diplomatic talks with Bulgaria and Cyprus the Indian President talked about enhanced relations with the Czech. He emphasised the importance of partnering in the spheres of defence and manufacturing.
However, it is the cultural aspects of his time in Czech Republic that are causing a stir.
The people of Prague prepared a pleasant surprise for the Indian President. At the official dinner organised by the Czech –– the native artists performed a number of Indian songs. One in particular that the President Kovind found rather “heartwarming” was a rendition of Kishore Kumar’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Pas.
The artists –– India-Czech Sinfonietta Orchestra –– followed that with the iconic song, Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan.
The twitterverse reacted positively to the performances and described them as beautiful. However, many pointed out minute errors such as using “Mumbai” in place of “Bombay”.
Let us know what you think of the performances.
