The year 2018 has left an indelible imprint on the minds of people with its lavish celebrity weddings.
From Deep Veer to Isha Ambani - Anand Piramal, to Priyanka Chopra’s ‘nickah’ with pop singer Nick Jonas, these high profile weddings became the subject of dinner table discussions.
But if you have started harboring the notion that desi weddings are only about grandiose celebrations, then hold on!
Because when Twitter user Rizwan Pehelwan narrated his wedding story in a thread, he set an example for millions by successfully smashing the idea of a big fat wedding.
Rizwan is a photographer in Pakistan. He wanted his wedding to be a simple and personal affair, and kept aside only Rs 20,000 for his wedding with 25 close friends on his guest list.
And here’s his story:
Rizwan wanted to have Apni Marzi ki shaadi that didn’t succumb to societal pressure and was all about having fun.
Rizwan managed to pull off this wedding in full jugaadu style. He borrowed chairs from somewhere and asked his friend to lend him a cook.
Selecting outfits for a wedding entails wandering from one designer store to another, and is definitely not a cakewalk. But Rizwan proved all of us wrong.
After reading Riwan’s story, many desis were obviously left wonderstruck by the idea of a jugaadu wedding.
Twitterati lauded him for his simple shaadi, with some even calling it the coolest wedding of the year.
While celebrity weddings may have grabbed the attention of people, Rizwan’s simple wedding definitely won their hearts!
