One would think Twitter’s quite the social media terror, given how it manages to churn regular doses of misogyny and hatred. However, we promise you that this time you won’t be disappointed. Looks like some of us have figured how to make the best of this modern Frankenstein. On Tuesday, two girls in an auto tweeted the Mumbai Police for help with an accompanying photograph of a man who was allegedly masturbating, his gaze turned their way.
The Mumbai Police replied within 30 minutes, assuring them of help and asking them to share details on direct message. On Thursday morning, the girl who had tweeted announced that the offender has been arrested. This was followed by a series of tweets applauding the police for having acted on the complaint so quickly and efficiently.
All we can say is, kudos to both the girls and the police for thinking and acting on their feet and using a medium as novel as Twitter to make this work.
