Looks like passengers travelling to and fro from Kolkata airport have much to worry about — actually make that machars to worry about.
The Times of India notes how mosquitoes are buzzing about everywhere at the airport, from tarmacs to inside the terminal, to the airport bus, to even the flights.
The article, filed by Tamaghna Banerjee and Subhro Niyogi quotes a passenger as saying:
And even though airlines officials have tried a number of measures, including lowering the temperatures inside the planes, and using WHO approved insecticides, the mosquitoes seem to be in no mood to relent.
Needless to say, passengers have been taking to social media, lending their ace dark humor too to the serious problem.
And in 2013, even Sakshi Dhoni had tweeted about the problem!
Even though now the airline officials are suggesting new and innovative ways of attacking mosquitoes, including cropping vegetation to prevent their breeding, and including ladders with air curtains at the entrance of the aircraft, from the tweets of the passengers, it seems like the damage to the image of Kolkata airport as a world class airport has been extensively done.
Well, as they say, once bitten, twice shy!
