What happens when a beloved celebrity gets accused of sexual harassment by no less than eight women?

On Thursday night, news of sexual harassment allegations against Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman surfaced. Soon after the accusations emerged, Freeman tendered an apology and said that it was never his intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable and disrespected.

I apologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected - that was never my intent.

Morgan Freeman’s name is the latest to join a list of Hollywood celebrities accused of sexual misconduct. In October 2017, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual abuse. Following Weinstein, allegations of sexual misconduct against actors Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby, Louis CK and Dustin Hoffman, among others, shook the American entertainment industry.

Twitter exploded with reactions from fans and colleagues which ranged from them calling him out for tendering an insufficient apology to defending him and saying he is ‘innocent until proved guilty.’

“Don’t Issue a Fake Apology...”

“Nobody Gets a Pass For Harassment Because of Their Amazing Acting Abilities.”

There were large number of users who stood behind Freeman and asserted that he is innocent. until proven guilty.

“There’s a Conscious Agenda Against Black American Entertainers.”

“If Freeman Goes, Trump Should Go Down With Him Too!”

There were few others who took a dig at President Donald Trump and said that if Freeman were charged, Trump should be charged along with him too.
