A few days after The News Minute's editor-in-chief Dhanya Rajendran was subjected to online abuse for posting a tweet critical of a film starring Tamil actor Vijay, one of those who allegedly took part in the trolling has now recorded a video where he has apologised for his actions.
The video has been posted by Dhanya on Twitter, and she says that the person in question is 23-year-old Ramkumar who hails from Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu, and works in a mobile shop. She also mentions that the High Court has rejected his bail.
According to Dhanya, Ramkumar claims that the trolling against her started after the word spread that she was a fan of Ajith - another popular Tamil actor.
The journalist had been trolled on Twitter in early August when she posted a tweet comparing Imtiaz Ali's Jab Harry Met Sejal to the movie Sura which has Vijay in the lead.
All the trolling also led to Vijay issuing a statement emphasising on the importance of respecting women.
In response to the online abuse, Dhanya had filed an FIR on 8 August under relevant sections.
