If you think Twitter is all about speaking your mind and getting tangled in the war of words, then, think again.
Social media has gone far beyond these things and is now helping many get their problems solved.
In a desperate move, Vera Singh from Lucknow took to social media to post about her 74-year-old mother, who went missing from Nishatganj in Lucknow on 20 December.
Her mother was wearing a pink suit and a black sweater when she was last seen, Singh added in her tweet.
Tweeple were quick to respond, retweeting and spreading the word, which alerted the UP Police.
Within 10 minutes of her tweet, the UP Police responded to her message, asking her to share more details. And that is how the investigation and the search for her mother started.
The tweets also got her complaint registered with the police. The minute the complaint was registered, the police got into action and was able to locate the mother.
After finding her mother, Singh thanked the cops on Twitter.
Vera Singh and her mother’s story is an example of how to use the social media for good.
