There are interviews. And then there are (eye roll) sexist interviews. But this interview with Sneha Reddy, the first ever graduate from IIT Hyderabad to bag a Rs. 1.2 crore package from Google this year, is NOT SEXIST at all. Can you believe that?

Okay, let’s wow later. But first, allow us to tell you who she is, and what the big deal is all about.

According to The Times of India, Reddy, who initially hails from Vikarabad and is a Computer Science graduate has been selected by Google for its prestigious ‘Google Intelligence Project’. That’s not all, this year, Reddy even received the ‘Excellence in Academics and Co-curricular activities’ award from the President of India.

TOI reports that Reddy is the first graduate from her alma mater, IIT Hyderabad, to be offered this high a package. The highest salary offered last year was Rs. 40 lakh.

Okay, enough gyaan. Now let’s come back to the interview.

Woo Hoo!

All the questions asked here are about Reddy’s achievements, her academic interests, how she landed the job, her ambitions. With not ONE question about her marriage, or her cooking prowess.

FYI, the interview was conducted by the journalist Kranti Kumar for ETV Andhra Pradesh.

Why is this important? Well, because it’s tough for even ardent journalists to not fall into the trap of asking sexist questions from successful women. Case in point: Rajdeep Sardesai and Sania Mirza. And Bhupen Chaubey and Sunny Leone. And many, many more.

Here’s hoping other journalists too begin to follow suit.
