There is nothing new about brands going all out to appease their female customer base pegging their product’s sellability around International Women’s Day. The countdown to 8 March was therefore marked with several ‘inspirational’ videos or with offers targeted at the ladies. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, in all its commercial glory, the cause behind celebrating the day is often lost.

Here are five campaigns that have managed to cut through the noise this year and have truly celebrated International Women’s Day.

Gypsy Moth: A woman is another woman’s enemy? Asks this #SheForHer campaign.

Urban Clap: The advertisement shows how a woman throws a party on her transsexual daughter’s first Woman’s Day in ‘My First Woman’s Day.’

Red Label: This cute video about two kids playing house takes a dig at gender stereotypes.

Reliance Fresh: There is no age limit on enjoying oneself.

United Colors of Benetton: In this ad, the brand urges women to ask for the half that they deserve.
