October kicks off the shaadi season and one can hear the shrieks from the newly engaged and the cries of those whose bank accounts wither from the innumerable event expenses.

Over 30,000 people tied the knot on October 25 in New Delhi!

Indian weddings are a perfect blend of dance, drama, madness, emotions, fun and rituals. As long as you get to attend a wedding, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s your best friend’s or that of an acquaintance – even though your best friend’s wedding will involve more running around than stuffing your face.

Here are a few reasons why we absolutely love the wedding season.

Nach Baliye

Can a wedding be complete without shaking your booty to the latest top-of-the-charts Punjabi number and the year’s ultimate Bollywood masala songs? Weddings are the only place where everyone gets to show off their crazy dancing skills – from drunk uncles to 2-year-old nephews and nieces.

Khana Khazana

Do we need another reason to love weddings apart from the immense amounts of yummy food? That’s the reason most of us turn up anyway.

Drooling already?

Dressing Up

Never experienced a real red carpet moment? Welcome to shaadi ka season.

With everyone trying to figure out what the other is wearing, all the girls eyeing the boys and vice versa, it’s the time of the year when you make every effort to look your best.

Lights, Camera, Action and Drama

Indians and drama go hand-in-hand. From mehman bhagwan ka roop hote hain to the little nok jhok between the bride and the groom sides, Indian weddings are the epitome of dramebaazi and emotions.

Total 'Click'bait

A wedding is the best time to believe you’re the centre of attention and work towards getting more photo ops than a Vogue photo shoot.

Shaadi ka Shagun

You might have to meet a few nagging, irritating relatives. But who cares? As long as they give you shagun.

Grand Venues

When you see Indian wedding venues, you’ll realise that there’s no bigger occasion in India than a shaadi. From lakeside landmarks to forts-turned-palaces, the parents of the dulha-dulhan leave no stone unturned to make the day extravagant.

Car-O-Bar

The open bar in the strategically placed car outside the wedding venue is exactly the place to drown yourself in free-flowing alcohol along with the same people who, inside the venue, would be scared to even utter the word ‘daaru’.
