On Sunday, an arterial road in Chennai’s Anna Salai caved in and took a bus and car with it. No one was grievously injured in the incident as people in the bus managed to jump out in time.

Taking place in broad daylight, the cave-in is believed to be a result of the ongoing tunnelling work being carried out in the vicinity, for the metro rail project.

The incident was believed to be caused by loose soil, or a lowered water table or a number of other factors.

However, Twitteratti managed to find humour in the situation by doing what they do best – making memes.

The road as a reflection of the current political situation in the state.

The infamous Sasikala meme struck again.

The macho-men of Tollywood save the day?
