The American police television sitcom, Brooklyn Nine-Nine returned to NBC with Season 6 and fans are going (coco)nuts over it!
In May 2018, Fox’s decision to cancel the cult comedy show had disappointed the fans worldwide. At the time, NBC had rescued the show, promising Season 6, and earned fans’ approval.
The new season’s initial episodes have received positive reactions so far. Check out what the reviews say.
USA Today wrote that in the first two episodes of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s’ new season, “the humor is there, the heart is there, and the plot progresses much as it would’ve on Fox.”
They also wrote that those worried that the show might not find a home on NBC need not fret for “the network knows what a gem it has now, especially considering its production arm, Universal Television, has been behind the series from Day 1.”
“Captain Holt’s trials and T-shirts are the secret weapon for a satisfying beginning to Season 6,” wrote Indie Wire.
They added, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine picks up right where it left off — as if nothing happened between the time Season 5 ended and Season 6 began.”
The Indie Wire review discussed the first episode in detail [with spoilers] and applauded producer and show-runner Dan Goor for making “every second count”.
Vulture shared the fans’ relief with their ‘Thank God’ and wrote, “When a canceled TV show is raised from the dead, it brings up a mixture of two specific emotions. First, there’s joy and a sense of reprieve... But underneath that, there’s a niggling feeling of concern.”
They asked fans to put the concern aside because “the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine seems to be doing exactly what any show in its sixth season should do.”
“The new season is in no way revelatory, but more of the same – it’s just that the same was already so damn good. The standard here is inclusivity and warmth,” wrote Mashable.
Mashable also invited new audiences to watch the show and said, “New viewers drawn in by the FOX/NBC madness will find something steadfast in the ‘Nine-Nine’ and in seeing these characters support each other in every permutation and combination.”
Indian fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will have to wait a little while longer to watch Season 6, as there is no update regarding when it will be available.
