‘Broadcast’: Story of 1947 Retold as a Cautionary Tale by a Radio

Broadcast is a dramatised retelling of 28 short stories of terror from 1947. The 28 short stories, also known as afshance, are from Saadat Hassan Manto’s writings of the communal violence in 1947 India.

With this production, the team intends to combine dramatic readings with live music. The stories will be read out by Fouzia Dastango and performed by Stefan Kaye and his team.

In the production, a radio comes back to life to narrate incidents of horror. The team also wishes to convey the relevance of Manto’s writings in today’s times.

The Quint caught up with the team behind Broadcast and got a sneak peak of what beauty awaits us all on Friday, 13 July at OddBird Theatre, Chhatarpur. You can check out the whole event here.
