It’s December already.

Did a double take? Yes, I know, this year went by so fast right? I mean, like every other year.

I’ll admit it, December is a fun, fun month. There’s a festive spirit all around, everyone’s happy and celebrating something and at least one person in every family is getting married.

December also means it’s the end of the year. Now this is where it gets tricky. Because the end of the year means we are going to see a deluge of ‘Best of’, ‘’Top 5’ articles about EVERYTHING important and trashy. This list is going to feel like listception because it is a list of the lists we are likely to see in this last month of 2015.

Top 5 Grossers of Bollywood

Poster of Bajrangi Bhaijaan – which went on to become the smash hit of 2015.

Because we are a Bollywood obsessed nation, every news and movie website is going to have this list. Like every year, this list will feature a Bhai movie, an SRK movie, an Akshay movie and one other superstar movie. The 5th movie is usually one that has taken people by surprise and is generously declared a ‘sleeper’ hit. Which sounds like a railway seat that did really well but it isn’t.

Top Social Media Scandals of 2015

Aamir Khan’s conversation with his wife became the talk of the country.

This one is tricky. Because we as an audience are so used to overreacting, this one would have to be a well-curated list.

Of course, Aamir Khan’s conversation with his wife about the country will top this list. There was also the matter of the dress that had the world divided in black/blue and white gold – that was WAR. And that’s great. I just hope we get over the puppies and babies phase we are going through currently.

The Most Controversial Decisions of 2015

This one is going to be a loooooong, long list. There was, of course, the porn ban that hit the country particularly hard. People everywhere protested against this decision claiming what they did in their bedroom (or Parliament) was not for the government to supervise.

The government in Maharashtra took it a step further and decided to even dictate what a person should have on their plate. They banned beef.

Lots of people have a bone to pick with the authorities about this. Or not, because – no steak.

Top 5 Memes That Broke the Internet in 2015

The internet loves its memes and why not. They are the funniest things on the net today.

So obviously, we will have lists about the memes. Netflix and Chill – a term that has made it to popular lingo – quickly spawned a million memes becoming the slang for having a good time while a movie plays in the background.

Adele’s ‘Hello’, for obvious reasons, also had its share of memes (more than one of which had Lionel Richie in it). The internet is a crazy place.

Top 5 Things We Learned in 2015

2015 won’t be remembered for all things good, that’s for sure.

First off, we learnt of the word ‘intolerance’. Used and abused beyond measure, this word is being flung in debates and conversations all around the country.

2015 is also the year we learned that it is possible for one to have a lot of husbands and not know whether your daughter is your sister or just your daughter. We were introduced to this through the sensational Indrani Mukherjee case.

The list will go on to introduce us to other weird things we learned in this year. Things we were better off not knowing.
