All in a Flutter: Angry Birds 2 Users are Hopping Mad at the Game

The latest version of the hugely popular Angry Birds series has irked gamers by constant in-app purchase requests.

Angry Birds 2 is out, and it has ruffled quite a few feathers.

Easily one of the most successful game franchises ever seen, Angry Birds has already seen over 3 billion downloads. The current version, in fact, has crossed 10 million downloads.

So what’s all the chatter about? While Angry Birds 2 is available as a free download, it does include in-app purchases and a “life” system. Players have five “lives” but lose one each time they fail a level. They can either wait 30 minutes for their “lives” to regenerate, or proceed after paying ‘real’ money to buy ‘gems’ available in the game.

Now, while this ‘freemium’ model is quite popular in the world of app downloads, the frequent messages and interruptions to coax an app user to pay more, has been irking an alarming number of users.

Angry Birds 2 has also received a lot of flak for hindering the flow of the game, with many reviews accusing Rovio Entertainment, the makers of the game, of being ‘greedy’.
