Tanushree Dutta has accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of 2009 movie Horn Ok Pleassss. In a Zoom TV interview, she said that she was shooting what was supposed to be her solo song (later performed by Rakhi Sawant) when Nana Patekar was on set. Tanushree alleged that he pulled her by her arms, tried to teach her the dance steps, and even got an “intimate” step added to the choreography just so that he could touch her.
She also alleged that people in Bollywood knew about Nana Patekar’s harassment of women actors but stayed mum about it, and big stars like Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth worked with him despite his acts of indecency against women in the film fraternity. Tanushree said that though she spoke about it then as well, no one had come forward in her support
Explaining why she is speaking about the incident once again, she said, “my fight is not against Nana Patekar or Ganesh Acharya. I just want to make sure that they suffer the consequences of their behaviour.”
Besides Nana Patekar, she has also accused Vivek Agnihotri of sexual misconduct. She spoke about an incident, in an interview with DNA, where Vivek Agnihotri had allegedly passed a lewd comment on set, but actor Irrfan Khan had shut him down.
For over 24 hours, Bollywood greeted Tanushree’s story with silence. After that, Farhan Akhtar tweeted in support of her. He was followed by Priyanka Chopra, Swara Bhaskar, Sonam Kapoor and Twinkle Khanna.
But there were also Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan who were found avoiding the question. RJ Stutee’s alter ego Pammi Kaur has been following the story since it first broke out. She is among the strong supporters of the #MeToo movement, and has decided to pen down a letter to Tanushree Dutta on Bollywood’s silence on the issue.
