Lekhraj Bheel will soon be the first one to be called an ‘engineer babu’ in his tiny village in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.
According to The Times of India, Bheel has obtained a rank of 10740 in JEE-Mains and wishes to study engineering from a National Institute of Technology (NIT).
Bheel’s father Mangilal and mother Sardari Bai, both work as wage laborers in MGNREGA.
In fact, Bheel’s father did not even know what engineering was, till his son cleared it.
In 2017, after scoring the first position in district merit in his 10th Board exams, the teachers in Lekhraj’s government school advised him to take up coaching classes for engineering exams, but the family could not afford it.
Later, some teachers helped him get free coaching in Allen Career Institute, Kota.
And after studying for four months there, he got to know that he will be preparing for the JEE exam which will get him admission in top engineering colleges of the country after he passes it with good marks.
Despite the tough circumstances he was born in, Lekhraj was always driven about his studies. He would go 6 km away from the village, to complete his studies in Class X, and even though mathematics and science subject teachers were not available in the school, he studied by himself and still scored 93.83 percent marks!
Unfortunately, many youth in Lekhraj’s village continue to work as wage labourers and have no pursuing their education. Which is why, after coming back as an engineer, Lekhraj wants to improve the condition of his family and village.
