All-round cricketer Yuvraj Singh announced his retirement from international cricket marking the end of an era, and the fans couldn’t hold back tears. After the announcement, fans expressed that the veteran cricketer should have gotten a proper farewell.
The buzz started when India vice-captain Rohit Sharma said the southpaw deserved a better send-off for his 17 years of stellar service to the nation and the fans agreed wholeheartedly.
Yuvi shall always be remembered as someone who never gave up, be it on the field or off it.
Even the official twitter handle of ICC paid tribute to the veteran cricketer.
Yuvi will be among Indian greats who did not get a farewell game after contemporaries Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Gautam Gambhir.
His career spanned over 304 ODI’s, 58 T20I’s and 40 Tests. Yuvraj has imprinted his place in the hall of fame of great cricketers.
The cricketer who risked his life for India to win a World Cup deserves a better goodbye.
Of course the lack of a proper farewell is no reflection on Yuvraj's talent, watching him bat was a sight to behold.
Our generation is fortunate to have witnessed him play and we are grateful that more often than not he delivered for Team India. Yuvi, you have made us all proud.
