In response to the LAC violence, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale recently called for a ban on Chinese food in India. But Chinese food, as Indians know it today, is not really authentic Chinese cuisine. Over the years, it has evolved to suit the tastes of Indians. Some would even say, that Indian Chinese, AKA Chindian food, is a unique cuisine of its own!

Here’s a brief history of Indian Chinese food today:
