What’s there in a name? Turns out a lot. A 25-year-old Marine Engineer's job application was rejected 40 times because of his name – Saddam Hussain.
According to the Hindustan Times, the engineer graduated from the Tamil Nadu’s Noorul Islam University two years ago. Ever since then, the man has been looking for a job, but his efforts have not born results.
“People are scared of hiring me”, Hussain told HT. In the initial six months of his job quest, he took the effort of following up with the HR department to know where he was falling short. He credentials were more than what the jobs desired, yet he would not get hired.
The HR departments gave him a unanimous response: his name was problematic.
Driven to depression, the man has now moved the Jharkhand High Court with a plea to direct the CBSE to change his name.
