Malayalam film actress, Reba Monica John filed a complaint against a 28-year-old man, who was allegedly stalking her and pressuring her to marry him.

The police then arrested Franklin Whisil, an employee with a private firm in Basavanagudi, and a resident of Electronic City from Bengaluru on Thursday, 26 October 2017.

John complained that he has been stalking her for over a year.

In her complaint, John mentioned that she used to visit St Anthony’s Church on Hosur Main Road every Sunday, when one day she noticed that Whisil had been stalking her each time she visited the church and following her back to her residence.

She further mentioned that she ignored him for some time, but then he managed to find her phone number and started sending her messages, demanding that she love and marry him. He also sent her some indecent messages, and managed to get her personal details.

I warned him in the church on 7 May 2017 not to send messages or follow me. He was silent for two months, and again started sending messages and harassing me mentally.
John wrote in her complaint

Whisil was arrested under the IPC section 354D (stalking), that states that any person who follows someone, and repeatedly contacts or attempts to contact to foster personal interaction despite a clear indication of disinterest by such a woman, or uses any kind of electronic devices to send messages to her is guilty.

Whisil was produced before the court and later he was released on bail.
