We got a hold of the introductory video of Manushi Chhillar, who’s been named Miss World 2017 and learnt that we’ve been pronouncing her surname wrong this whole time.

When she was announced the winner, Twitter went all out to congratulate Manushi on winning the pageant after 17 years. But apart from that, there was also some talk about her surname. Even Shashi Tharoor drew flak for his misplaced pun on “Chhillar”. So before it goes any further, let’s hear it from the horse’s mouth.

Manushi pronounces her surname as:

“Sh-i-llar”

Here it the video, she says it at 0:12:

Well, that’s one more thing you have learnt today!

Manushi Chhillar has become the sixth Indian to win the Miss World title. India last held the title 17 years ago when Priyanka Chopra brought the honour home. Chhillar was chosen for the title from among 108 contestants at the beauty pageant.

Born to a family of doctors, Chhillar studied at St Thomas School in Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.

The excited winner had taken to Twitter to thank everyone for their support.
