The last time the people of Sikkim and Darjeeling saw snow was in 2008.

That’s correct!

And on Friday afternoon, after a decade, they began their last weekend of the year with the beautiful sight of snow, with roads and hills covered under sheets of snow.

Parts of Gangtok, Nathula, Ravangla and the area near Tashi witnessed snow flakes. Unfortunately, this also meant some tourists were stranded at the Nathula – the Indo-China border.

Even so, tourists and locals alike in Darjeeling are thrilled with the snowfall!
