Can we think of our green siblings this Rakhi?(Photo: The Quint)

It’s Raksha Bandhan time! The time to celebrate the love and affection that binds brother to sister, and vice-versa. But this year, The Quint, along with the campaigners of ‘My Right To Breathe’, will celebrate Vrikshabandhan – a bond between us and the trees.

Trees are pretty much indispensable; they offer us sustenance, shade in times of rain and heat, and help clean the air that we pollute. They also hold the soil together and prevent landslides. Yet, how do we repay them? So often, we just chop them down!

It’s time to stop.

Let us take a pledge to protect our green sibling better. Let’s celebrate Vrikshabandhan this Rakhi. Send us photos and videos of you tying a rakhi to a tree and tell us why you want to protect that tree.
