Ahead of 2019 polls, medical infrastructure is one of the voters’ main demands in Shillong. Every election, citizens are promised better healthcare but that’s a promise which hasn’t been fulfilled so far.
“I have thyroid, uric acid, infection in my kidney and even a stone in my kidney. I was examined by doctors here, but no doctor was capable enough to provide any treatment. I had no option but to travel to Delhi to get treated.
But I’m fortunate that I could get some treatment as I could afford to travel. There are many who cannot travel to other cities for treatments,” Ahmed said.
Harish who works in the same salon says that the government needs to provide us with good hospitals, so that a person does not need to travel to Bengaluru and can get treated here.
