(This article was published in February, during the event of Airbnb announcing that one could ‘rent’ Vincent van Gogh’s bedroom – aka a recreated living space. It is being republished on the occasion of his birth anniversary – March 30.)
Vincent van Gogh is undoubtedly one of the most famous 19th century post-Impressionist artists whose notable works include The Starry Night, The Scream and Bedroom in Arles among others.
And now you can actually rent his bedroom!
Artists in Chicago have recreated van Gogh’s famous private chamber and listed it on the popular apartment rental platform Airbnb. The installation is part of an exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago that opens this month.
For a mere $10, van Gogh fans can relive what it is like to actually be a part of his painting.
In fact the listing has been made by none other than Vincent himself.
The room isn’t completely out of the 1880s – it offers WiFi, cable TV, air conditioning and even a pool!
“I’m charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint,” says the lister.
