Have you ever been on a trip to the Andaman and Nicobar islands? Those of you who have, would know that while the islands have great experiences to offer, staying connected to the outside world through your phone is just not easy. The reason – erratic and intermittent mobile connectivity.

What you faced for a few days is what the locals in the islands face every day. Some of the simplest things like streaming videos, browsing the internet or even simple phone calls, which are quite normal for us, have been a difficult thing to do for the locals. But all that is set to change now. Airtel recently launched 4G network in the islands, becoming the first telecom company to do so. This move will really turn around the lives of locals as well make holiday experiences better for tourists.

The availability of Airtel 4G will make life quite convenient for locals. They will now be able to enjoy entertainment online. Services like digital payments and online shopping will become a common affair. Even simple things like faster video streaming, better call connectivity and high-speed internet browsing will become a reality. Better internet access will also open doors to both information and opportunity. Think of how students will now easily access e-learning websites, while people in search of jobs will be able to find more opportunities online. All in all, the overall quality of living of the residents will definitely improve.

Tourism and the experience of tourists too will greatly benefit from a better mobile network with Airtel 4G. No more will there be any frustration of not being able to talk properly with loved ones back home or not being able use your phone to discover more about places to visit on the islands. Imagine posting an Instagram story while swimming in the turquoise waters of Radhanagar beach or sharing a live video from your trek to Mt. Harriet. Making your friends jealous of your escapades won’t have to wait for your hotel’s wi-fi anymore.

The introduction of 4G services has set the ‘digital’ ball rolling in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It’ll be exciting to see where things go from here.
