Thanksgiving can be celebrated as early as 22 November and the last date to celebrate it is 28 November. In 1938, President Franklin Roosevelt changed the date to celebrate Thanksgiving from fourth Thursday to third Thursday in the month of November. This move did not become that popular.
True Meaning of Thanksgiving
The Native Americans would celebrate the harvest festival for a long time. The autumn feasts were celebrated by harvesting of the crops which were grown during the season.
In the 16th century, the communities of settlers from Massachusetts and Virginia met and gave thanks to each other for the fertility of their crops and for keeping trust in each other. The earliest Thanksgiving which is widely renowned is that of the Pilgrims of Plimoth, Massachusetts, who feasted for three continuous days with the Wampanoag people in 1621.
