Christians across the country will observe Maundy Thursday on 18 April this year.
According to scriptures, Maundy Thursday is observed to commemorate Maundy (a ceremony of washing the feet of the poor) and Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles, before his crucifixion.
Maundy Thursday falls on the Thursday before Easter and is also known as Holy Thursday, Covenant Thursday, Great and Holy Thursday, among other names.
The term Maundy comes from the Latin word ‘mandatum’, which means ‘command’.
On this day, believers attend mass in churches.
Here are some of the quotes, messages and images to share with your loved ones on the occasion.
