It was about 12 years ago, I first saw Sankara at college and that happened while a fun ragging session was going on. My first thought – I should stay away from that GUY! He looked pretty tough and was pretty loud too... After that incident, I maintained my distance from him and he had still not noticed me, I guess!!!

I’m a die-hard Rahul Dravid fan and one summer there was a match taking place while we were in our design studio. I sneaked out of the class and into the TV room to watch the match and there he was. Well that was the time he saw me or rather noticed me. God knows how it happened but... hell yeah opposites attract and we are one of the most obvious examples.

Now let me tell you about myself, architect by profession and a professor by choice and so is Sankara. No matter how different we are there is some basic things where we are so similar, like how we love to spend our Sundays watching TV series on computer or how we like just the right amount of water in the Maggi we are eating or how we both absolutely love our dog. This is what keeps us going. We can spend a complete day just talking about a new business idea or even go on a really tough bike ride in the weekends, we plan and do it together.

All this happens because of the crazy love Sankara felt for me 10 years ago, and how he waited for me to say yes for one whole year and how he got my entire family and his on board for our marriage.

It’s been five years since we are married but it still feels like the first date we went on, he still makes fun of me at times and says I’ve still not learnt to cook. Well more than all this, we still don’t miss a chance to say I love you to each other.

What happens when two very different people fall in love? Well let me tell you, they tend to like what each other do!!! So Sankara, a dil se Mumbai tam-bram boy began to listen to heavy metal and took a liking to all rock bands and a spoilt Bangalore girl (that’s me) took a liking to actually watching a Manchester United match.

Like most people, there came a point in our life where we went through a long distance relationship but that only made our bond stronger. And finally when the marriage took place, it was an overlap of a million emotions. The constant support we gave each other made us strong as a couple. We still argue over silly things and annoy each other but we never forget to constantly remind ourselves of the love we have for the other. Life’s a journey and we never leave a chance to pack our bags and take off...
