It’s undeniably the age of social media and everyone loves the popularity that comes with it. Nothing wrong with this. However, many a time, in a bid to create the right impression, you tend to go overboard and be what you are not. This happens to all of us and somewhere, our real self gets left behind. But it’s never too late to make amends. So in the new year, it’s time to #ShutTheFakeUp, and with you in this endeavour is Fastrack.

Now it’s perfectly okay to seek social media validation, but yes, some lines must be drawn. You can put up as many selfies as you want, but go easy on those filters. Let the world see the real you. Dining at a fancy place with close friends? It’s okay if you don’t fish out your phone and go all clickety-click. Every once in a while, learn to enjoy the moment. The hashtags and witty captions can wait, while you have a great time with your friends. Fastrack has always been representative of young India and they clearly know that today’s youth like to keep it real. #ShutTheFakeUp is an extension of this very thought. It urges you to drop pretences and express yourself just the way you feel. So go ahead and without thinking much, post a no make-up picture of yours. Validations and approvals can go take a hike.

Go easy on those filters. Let people see the real you.

If you’re on a much-needed vacation, there is no need for constant live updates and virtual check-ins. Your friends and followers can wait till you get back to know how much you enjoyed. Till then you can create memories with all the real moments around you. And mind you, being real has nothing to do with going on a digital detox or shunning social media altogether. The idea is to put your true self out there, sans filters and facades, without the fear of being judged. With #ShutTheFakeUp, Fastrack wants you to be unapologetically yourself. Besides, too much show off can ultimately be a big turn off and the very people who cheered you on are likely to distance themselves from you.

With #ShutTheFakeUp, Fastrack wants you to be unapologetically yourself.

The new year has just begun and it still isn’t late to make resolutions. So drop those masks, #ShutTheFakeUp and keep it real. Also, who better than the youth of today to lead by example and show others the way.
