Come mid afternoon of January 1, 2016 and here’s what’s going to happen. Your head will be in 500 different directions, loud noises are going to hurt you, your breath is gonna need a gallon of Listerine and your house – well, it’s kinda trashed.

If you are anything BUT this on the first day of the New Year, then what kind of a goodbye party did you give to 2015? Hangovers are in your future, Padewan, and you best be prepared. And guess what? The cure, lies in a good plate of morning brekkie filled with the goodness of grease, proteins, sugar, spice and everything nice.

Here are five breakfasts that will kick your hangover out the door.

Good Ol’ Desi Aloo Parathas With Curd

Say what you want about parathas, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING can screw your head back in the right place like an aloo paratha can. Throw in some extra blobs of butter, a bit of cheese to soak in the alcohol, get some fresh curd in to cool down your stomach and watch your day instantly get better. Make your own versions with capsicum, paneer, or even some mushrooms in it, but personally nothing works better than the original. Gobble them up real good and don’t forget the pickle!

The Big Fat English Breakfast

A traditional English breakfast contains all that you would need to kick start your day into high gear, and it works great for a hangover too! Get together some sunny side up eggs, toasted bread with some baked beans, caramelised onions, hash brown potatoes, sausages and DO NOT FORGET THE BACON.

The protein in the eggs will replenish your dehydrated soul, the hash browns supply the much needed starch and the bacon – well, that one’s for the win, ALWAYS!

Spicy Chinese Clear Soup

Many people don’t know this about soup, but it’s actually the best kind of hangover cure there is. It’s got all the essentials mushed into one bowl which makes you just wanna snuggle in it. But if you want to get rid of the vampire feeling fast, go all spicy with some spring onions, garlic, chillies and just sweat your toxins out. Toss in some noodles, get some fried wontons and life is beautiful in a matter of hours. Drink a bowl every 2-3 hours, take regular naps, chill out and relax.

So simple, so fluffy and oh so delightful! Soothe your inner trashed beings with a plate of the classic idlis with chutney and sambhar, follow it up with Mysore masala dosa and finally end with some deep fried medu wada goodness. Sleep it off for 3 hours and you’ll be reborn a whole new person.

This combo never fails. Give your stomach some cushion from all the daaru that just made a home there!

French Toast and Pancakes With Ice Cream

To get rid of that headache of epic proportions, rustle up some eggy toast and pancakes and devour them with a generous helping of ice cream. The cold vanilla will make your stomach and mind feel young again, and the toast, trust us, is the best comfort food in the world.

The feeling is akin to nestling in a warm blanket near a fire with a beautiful lullaby. Get a side of fresh seasonal fruits, get some shut eye for about an hour and stay happy in the new year!
