India’s English news channels were in for a major shake-up in 2005. Up until then, NDTV 24X7 was the undisputed No 1 English news channel in the country. But in April that year, the channel’s star anchor-reporter Rajdeep Sardesai left and joined hands with TV18 founder Raghav Bahl to start CNN-IBN.

NDTV finally had a worthy opponent – by March 2006, CNN-IBN toppled NDTV from its No 1 spot. For nine years, Rajdeep Sardesai led CNN-IBN as its Editor-in-Chief. In the book, Network 18: The Audacious Story of a Start-up That Became a Media Empire, Sardesai opens up about his stint at CNN-IBN and his relationship with Raghav Bahl.

Network 18: The Audacious Story of a Start-up That Became a Media Empire, published by Portfolio Penguin, was launched in September 2016 as a hardback. The paperback edition of the book is now out in bookstores and is also available online
