In the early years of TV18, Vandana Malik, the former director of Network 18, was a one man army in the company’s Mumbai bureau. She and her cameraperson went around in a gypsy whenever they had to go for a shoot.

As Network 18 grew, she took a backseat but she was always one of the closest confidants of Raghav Bahl, the founder of Network 18 and her younger brother. Vandana confesses that one of the main reasons why Network 18’s film business failed was because Raghav was not in direct charge of the business, and of creative and financial decisions.
