A WWII Veteran Sings to His Dying Wife, and It’s Heartbreaking

This is one for the storybooks. Howard, who went to fight in World War II, shortly after his wedding to Laura, used to sing You’ll Never Know to her. With him gone and their future darkly uncertain, Laura found solace in the music and lyrics.

Howard’s triumphant return sealed the importance of this song for them, and it became a part of the family legend. Now, after seven decades of togetherness, Laura lies fading in a hospital bed. The doctors have made the dreaded pronouncement, but Howard is intent upon making Laura’s last few days full of love and light. Without further ado, here’s the video.
