Srinagar, July 10 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra on Tuesday met Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama who is currently visiting the state's Ladakh region, an official statement said.
"Before commencing his official engagements, soon after arrival at Leh this morning, Governor N.N. Vohra called on His Highness, Dalai Lama at his residence in Jive-tsal Choglamsar," said the statement, adding Vohra was accompanied by his Advisors, the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary, Planning.
"During his interactions with the Governor, speaking about the growing tensions across the world, Dalai Lama stressed the importance of debate and discussion to reconcile opposing viewpoints and study of philosophical texts to cultivate an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for all religions.
"He prayed for peace and prosperity in the world," it added.
