So Lipstick Under My Burkha cast sat together with AIB’s Kaneez Surka and Sumukhi Suresh, and it couldn’t get any better. Needless to say, they had the most sarcastic and candid chat. From discussing Raj and Simran’s ‘happily ever after’ to ‘fair’ vaginas to why the film ended the way it did, they say it all. Here are a few excerpts.
What is the weirdest stereotype you've ever heard about vaginas?
Ratna Pathak Shah felt lucky to be not a part of this generation after hearing that.
Ratna Pathak Shah shared an old story of her and Naseeruddin Shah’s date at a fancy restaurant once upon a time, where they used to have two menu cards – one for the women and one for the men. The one for the woman didn’t have the prices, and the one for men did.
Although the film has received criticism for not “pushing for empowerment”, Aahana Kumra, who plays Leela in the film, said they didn't feel the need to ‘revolt’ in the end like every other film about women.
And well, many had the argument which said, “feminist type movie hai,” but what did they really mean?
